This Homemade Arugula Pizza is perfect for summer dinners or a cozy night in. Made with simple ingredients - it's an easy recipe!
This pizza is layered with flavor. You have savoriness from the prosciutto and tomato, a note of bright zestiness from the arugula and to top it all off you can finish the pizza with sweetness from the balsamic glaze.
You don't need a pizza oven or pizza pan. Just a baking sheet will do! In the pictures below I used a pizza pan, but a regular baking sheet works well too. However, the crust may not be as crispy.
You can of course make your own homemade dough and pesto, but to make things easy I usually just use store-bought options.
However, if you're wanting to make your own homemade pesto, I do have a recipe for you! Check out my Pesto Pasta with Veggies. In the recipe, I go over my homemade version of pesto.
Of course, nothing beats homemade, but store-bought can go a long way and help when you're busy.
The Easy Steps
Start by preheating the oven and getting your pizza ready!
You'll want to spread an even layer of pesto on the pizza dough. Make sure to leave a good ½ inch of space on the edges untouched for the crust.
For the toppings, I like to think of it as 3 layers:
- Layer 1: cheese
- Layer 2: tomato and prosciutto
- Layer 3: more cheese!
Essentially, the cheese locks it all together! You can slice the cheese like I did in the pictures or pull it apart into globs.
You'll bake it until it's bubbly and golden brown on the edges. Let it sit for a moment before topping it with the dressed arugula.
The arugula is tossed in equal parts olive oil and lemon juice and adds the perfect amount of zest!
It's totally optional but you can drizzle balsamic glaze on top and it adds a touch of sweetness that is divine.
Storage
Store homemade pizza like you would restaurant-style pizza. It'll keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Recipe Tips and FAQs
Of course, you could use shredded Italian cheese, parmesan or whatever your heart desires!
It's best eaten within 3 days if stored in the fridge.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease a baking sheet or pizza pan with oil and lay the dough on the pan.

- Next, layer the sliced tomato and prosciutto on top of the cheese.
- For the last layer, add the last half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Transfer the pizza pan to the oven and bake for 8 -10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
- As the pizza bakes, mix the arugula, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and ground black pepper together.
- Once the pizza is out of the oven let it cool for 5 minutes before topping it with the dressed arugula and balsamic glaze if desired. Enjoy!
